The Othsprey
Strathspey, G Major
Being home and riding bikes helped rinse away some of the busy-ness, stress, and sickness of our summer. After the bulk of our travels were behind us, I still felt like I needed a month off to recover. Instead I got only a four-hour respite. I spent it biking and kayaking with my friend Ellery, and it ended up being surprisingly refreshing.
As we paddled along the Mystic River, birds circled above us. I said they seemed ominous, but Ellery taught me they were ospreys, doing their weird flapping cadence before they glide and swoop down for snacks. Maybe some of the Scottish snaps in the tune will help the birds hook a few extra fish.
