Last Days of Fourth Grade
Waltz, G Major
June 2021 – Everything is ephemeral. Priorities shift. Careers tank or transform (or both). Even heartaches perish overtime. And parenting is another epic practice in impermanence. There’s always a new challenge, and the really sweet moments don’t last long.
There was a lot of anxiety surrounding the early Covid year/s. But our kid enjoyed an incredible Fourth Grade online experience. Ms. Silberman and all those squares of kids really pulled together. The laughter coming from one side of the house while I taught remotely a few rooms away inspired this waltz. I never want to forget that moment, so I commemorated it with this waltz.
The first form of this tune is ABB: the first 16 bars are played just once; and the second 16 repeat.
