Where is my Tukata
Jig, D Modal
Noel Scott is a master carpenter and fine accordion player. Until Covid hit, he had been overseeing a renovation of our home.
Back when we began the house project with him, we needed to knock down a rotten porch and excavate for a new foundation. In the course of digging, we unearthed a dozen antique bottles and… a tiny doll’s arm!
Just moments before striking porcelain, I’d been talking to a friend in Thailand. So when I saw the little doll arm I thought of the word in Thai first. Tukata (ตุ๊กตา) has three syllables, which felt like a jig.
(Where’s the rest of the doll? We haven’t found it yet…)
